Indonesian volleyball star Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi has confirmed her return to South Korea’s V-League for the 2026-2027 season, marking a significant comeback after a period of uncertainty due to injury concerns.
The decision was finalized following discussions with her family, including her husband, and after receiving positive medical evaluations regarding her knee injury, which had previously hindered her performance during the 2026 Proliga season while playing for Jakarta Pertamina.
Megawati, widely known by her nickname “Megatron,” had expressed doubts about returning to the V-League due to lingering physical issues affecting her on-court performance. However, recent medical assessments indicated that her knee condition could be managed through a straightforward medical procedure, restoring her confidence in regaining peak form.
Her agent confirmed the decision directly to South Korean media outlet Naver on April 19, 2026, stating that Megawati is now prepared to resume her international career in the V-League. If contract procedures proceed without complications, she is scheduled to make her return to action starting in October 2026.
During her previous stint with the Red Sparks, Megawati established herself as one of the most impactful foreign players in the league over two seasons, consistently delivering high-level performances that contributed significantly to her team’s success.
