Switzerland’s Loïc Meillard continued his impressive season,securing second place. This marks Meillard’s fourth podium finish this season, solidifying his position as a top contender in the slalom discipline.

Despite battling back pain, Meillard delivered a strong performance, showcasing his resilience adn determination.

“I didn’t feel any pain during my second run,” Meillard said. “The break I took after Bormio seems to have done me good. I’m feeling confident heading into Adelboden.”

Samuel Kolega of Croatia rounded out the podium, finishing in third place.

Meillard’s consistent performances have earned him the lead in the slalom World Cup standings.The Swiss skier is looking to build on his success as the season progresses.

“I’m really happy with how I’m skiing right now,” Meillard said. “I’m going to keep working hard and see where it takes me.”

In a race originally scheduled for Sunday but moved to Saturday due to anticipated weather, Meillard, known more for his giant slalom prowess, delivered a blistering second run to overcome a deficit and secure his first career slalom win.

“It’s incredible,” Meillard said, beaming. “I knew I had a good chance after the first run, but to actually pull it off is amazing.”

The victory was even sweeter considering the absence of slalom specialist Daniel Yule,who finished a respectable seventh after a strong second run. Yule,a three-time winner in Madonna di Campiglio,had hoped for a podium finish but ultimately fell short.

“I’m happy with my skiing today,” Yule commented. “It wasn’t quite enough for the podium, but I’m looking forward to the next race.”

Adding to the Swiss success, Tanguy Nef secured a top-15 finish, while Noel von Grünigen, who had impressed in the first run, regrettably faltered in the second.

The race saw several big names falter, including Olympic champion Clément Noël and Norwegian star Timon Haugan.
