Nong Khai, urgent notification: the Mekong water protection wall at Phra That La Nong has been breached, warning people on Meechai Road and Prachak Road to move their belongings to higher ground immediately. Water levels are expected to rise by another meter.
Flood Situation in Nong Khai Province
The Mekong River has overflowed its banks, flooding homes and affecting agricultural areas and transportation routes in Nong Khai province. The situation has led to the announcement of electricity cuts in some areas.
Urgent Notice from Nong Khai Municipality
A message posted on the Nong Khai Municipality Facebook page at 8:39 pm stated that the wall protecting the water along the Mekong River at Phra That La Nong has been breached. Residents on Meechai Road and Prachak Road are advised to move their belongings to higher ground as the water is expected to rise by another meter.
Latest Update from Nong Khai Municipality
At 8:55 pm, the Nong Khai Municipality Facebook page posted an update stating that officials are currently checking the situation of the water barrier at Phra That La Nong. Due to the breach, residents are advised to move their belongings to higher ground or leave the area immediately.
