The Memphis Police Department said Abston faces charges of attempted kidnapping, aggravated criminal trespassing, and stalking.
Authorities believe abston specifically targeted Young. A search of Abston’s vehicle revealed a Taser, gloves, rope, and duct tape, police said.
The examination began Sunday night after reports of a suspicious person in the East Memphis subdivision where young resides. Security footage showed an individual scaling a wall and heading directly to the mayor’s residence, according to police and Young.
“We now know that he walked straight to our home, knocking on the door with gloves on, a full pocket, and a nervous demeanor,” Young stated.
