Men’s Cross Country Team Takes 13th Place at NCAA Northeast Regionals – Highlights & Insights
Stony Brook Men’s Cross Country Team Competes at NCAA Northeast Regional Championship
The Stony Brook men’s cross country team competed in the 2024 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Friday in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. The team finished 13th out of 39 schools, the best among all CAA teams.
Top Performers:
- Henry Gartner, a sophomore, was the top runner, finishing 47th with a time of 31:05.35 in the 10K race.
- Michael Hawkes finished 60th at 31:16.62.
- Steven Struk came in 93rd with a time of 31:53.68.
- Nick Tardugno placed 98th, finishing at 31:57.76.
Other Stony Brook runners included Thomas Burfeind (137th), Neel Chittur (197th), and John Fontanez (250th).
Coach’s Remarks:
Head coach Andy Ronan praised the team’s effort, highlighting the strong performances of Henry and Michael despite missing two key runners from the conference championship team.
