All generations of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class share one thing in common – they always come with something that no other production cars have yet. And it’s no coincidence that what the “S-Class” has today, cars for ordinary mortals will have in twenty years. The car manufacturer has just unveiled the facelift of the W223 generation, so let’s take a look at what we can look forward to.
Firstly, one thing that almost certainly won’t make it into other cars – dozens of stars. The exterior design of the S-Class has changed according to current trends in general and within the design of the Stuttgart brand – the front mask is larger,has a luminous outline and there are stars all over the car. The rear lights have three each, there are two in each headlight at the front and lots of other small, chrome ones can be seen in the mask. Even the “sight”, the star standing on the hood, now has a luminous outline – for an extra charge.
Since we’ve started with lighting, let’s continue with the headlights. They have a new generation of Digital Light technology,which has more micro-LED diodes and the area in front of the car onto which they can project data is 40% larger.This also means brighter high beams and includes a beam that can illuminate up to 600 m away. The LED Matrix function is a matter of course and thanks to cooperation with map data and the front camera,the headlights can also better illuminate the road in winding sections.

The brain of the car is the MB.OS operating system, which the press release describes as a supercomputer. It manages both driving systems including assistance and those for semi-autonomous driving,as well as the MBUX infotainment system. The car manufacturer has so far revealed technical details of the inline six-cylinders and V8, but a six-liter V12 will also be available in the S 680 version. The press release mentions it in combination with the bulletproof Guard version, which will offer VR10 level protection. It can stop dozens of shots from assault rifles, such as the world-famous AK47, and also a hit from a sniper rifle with 54×7.62 R armor-piercing ammunition.
