Mercy Joins AI Discussion in Health Care

Mercy, a leader in using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve patient care, was the only health care organization at “CHAI on the Hill.” This event took place at the U.S. Senate Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C. The discussion focused on how to use AI responsibly in health care to benefit patients and build public trust.

During the event, policymakers, industry leaders, and experts explored the potential of AI in health care and the changing regulations. Steve Mackin, president and CEO of Mercy, emphasized the need to prioritize patients and caregivers in AI initiatives. He stated, “AI has tremendous potential to revolutionize patient care, but it must be used responsibly.”

Mercy is part of the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI), which includes a wide range of stakeholders. This coalition promotes the responsible use of AI in health care to ensure transparency and protect patient care. CHAI consists of over 1,300 member organizations, including hospitals, tech companies, and advocacy groups.

Mercy is recognized for its innovative projects, working with Microsoft and Mayo Clinic to enhance patient experiences and improve medical workflows. These collaborations aim to make health care more proactive.

The event highlighted the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders in shaping the future of AI in health care. Mercy’s participation aims to ensure that AI technologies prioritize patients’ needs while addressing privacy and ethical concerns.
