Eligibility and Site Requirements
To qualify as a meal site, programs must either serve youth directly or be located near schools that participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch program throughout the school year.
The Metro Action Commission provides meals to a variety of locations, including:
- Day camps and sports camps
- Faith-based programs
- Community centers
- Apartment communities
MAC stated it has the capacity to serve approximately 100 community locations as meal sites.
Program Goals and Implementation
The program aims to address food insecurity for Nashville’s youth when school is out of session, specifically for those who rely on free or reduced-price school meals during the academic year.
Marvin Cox, the program director of the MAC Community Outreach Division, stated: With summer quickly approaching, it’s important to consider how children who rely on free or reduced‑price school meals will continue to access nutritious food while school is out,
Training for both new and returning programs will be conducted in May 2026. MAC will provide ongoing monitoring and support for the duration of the summer program.
Application Process
Youth program leaders can apply through the agency’s website or in person at the Metro Action Commission’s main office located at 1281 Murfreesboro Pike.
