The highly anticipated tactical RPG Mewgenics, from the creator of The Binding of Isaac, launched on PC on February 10, 2026, quickly attracting a dedicated player base. However, for those hoping to experience Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel’s latest creation in their native language, a full Russian localization isn’t yet available.

While the game has proven popular, drawing in “tens of thousands of users” according to reports, the lack of official Russian language support presents a barrier for some players. Fortunately, resourceful gamers haven’t waited for an official release and have already begun creating solutions.

When Will Russian Language Support Arrive?

The developers have acknowledged the demand for additional language options, including Russian, and are actively working on implementing them. While a firm timeline hasn’t been announced, the team estimates that a full Russian localization could arrive as early as May 2026. This estimate is based on the time it took to finalize the game’s initial six languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese.

According to a Steam community post, the developers are also considering adding Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean post-launch, potentially releasing those localizations within three months of confirmation.

How to Install Russian Language Support Now

Players eager to experience Mewgenics in Russian don’t have to wait. Several user-created modifications offer a workaround, providing varying degrees of completeness and ease of installation.

Manual Installation via WyccStreams

One option is a neural network translation from WyccStreams, requiring manual file replacement. The process involves:

  1. Downloading the files from Zone of Games or Boosty.
  2. Extracting the downloaded files.
  3. Copying the “data” and “swfs” folders into the root directory of the Mewgenics installation.
  4. Launching the game.

The WyccStreams translation is reportedly being actively updated to address any errors and improve font rendering.

Automatic Installation via Undergodst

For a more streamlined experience, Undergodst offers an automated installer. The steps are as follows:

  1. Downloading the translation from Zone of Games or GitHub.
  2. Extracting the archive.
  3. Running the “install_ru.exe” file.
  4. Waiting for the installation process to complete.
  5. Launching the game.

The Undergodst translation, while convenient, is still under development. Players may encounter some inaccuracies in phrasing or font display, but the developer intends to address these issues in future updates. A corresponding “uninstall_ru.exe” file is provided for reverting to the original language.

A Word of Caution

While using these modifications is generally considered safe for single-player games like Mewgenics, it’s always advisable to download files from trusted sources to avoid potential issues with game stability or system security.

Looking Ahead

For now, Russian-speaking players have options to enjoy Mewgenics while awaiting the official localization. The game’s complex genetic inheritance systems, tactical combat, and rich equipment options are proving to be a compelling experience for players worldwide. The developers’ commitment to expanding language support will undoubtedly broaden the game’s appeal even further.

Are you willing to wait for the official translation, play in the original language, or have you already used a user-created solution? Tell us how you approach games without localization!
