Piastri’s Challenges‌ in Slippery Conditions

Verstappen’s Struggles with⁣ Oversteer

Max Verstappen, driving for red Bull Racing, faced a different but equally⁣ significant ⁢problem. He was visibly ‌battling oversteer – a ​loss of rear tire grip – almost continuously throughout ⁣the “Esses,” a fast ​sequence‍ of left-hand and ⁢right-hand turns on the track. This instability was apparent in onboard camera footage.

Verstappen explained‍ that the team ​attempted numerous adjustments, even during qualifying, but didn’t fully resolve the issue. “We tried a lot of stuff,⁣ even going into qualifying, and got it a little bit ‌wrong in some areas of the ‌track,”‌ he ⁢stated.

Lack of Grip‌ as the Root Cause

The core problem for ⁣Verstappen appeared to be⁤ a general lack of grip. “All weekend we couldn’t find the grip in the car and it is indeed something we need to understand,”⁣ he said. ‌ He emphasized that the track demands precision, and sliding‍ is detrimental to ‍performance. “When you have ‍those issues you⁢ are sliding a lot and​ on this track you cannot afford that.⁤ This‍ whole weekend has been tough.”

Points Implications

Verstappen’s performance,despite the challenges,allowed him to ⁣reduce the points gap to Oscar Piastri.
