Fishel, 24, seeks to become a focal point in an NWSL team’s attack, with the goal of increasing her opportunities with the USWNT ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
Fishel has earned three caps for the USWNT, scoring her first and only international goal in her second appearance in 2023. Her time with the national team was hampered by a torn ACL sustained during training before the 2024 Concacaf W Gold cup. She recently returned to play for Chelsea and participated in two games against Germany’s U-23 team as an overage player.

USWNT head coach Emma Hayes emphasized the value of consistent playing time for Fishel. “Yes, she could come in, sit on the bench for [the senior team] but it’s much better for her to go and play in Germany and get the experiences so that these players are tracking to compete in the place that we want them to come 2027,” Hayes said last month.
Chelsea’s roster already includes USWNT forward Catarina Macario, Colombian Mayra Ramírez, and Australian Sam kerr, who is recovering from a knee injury. Hayes previously coached Fishel at chelsea, acquiring her from Tigres in 2023 for a $250,000 transfer fee.
Fishel joined tigres after being drafted fifth overall by the Orlando Pride in the 2022 NWSL Draft. She opted to play in Mexico instead. In 2022, she told Andscape, “If I didn’t go to Tigres in Mexico, I have no doubt that I would not be at Chelsea now. I strongly believe in that.”
