Nearly 40 years after making her mark in “ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” Mia Sara fondly remembers filming the movie’s parade sequence. The scene featured Matthew Broderick leading an elaborate dance through Chicago streets to The Beatles’ “Twist and Shout.”
“We would do the dance,then get in a van and drive blocks away,” Sara told People. “The camera would roll, and we’d repeat the dance, waiting for matthew to pass. It was a crazy ‘let’s catch it as many times as we can’ situation. That was a great moment.”
Sara admitted she hasn’t rewatched “Ferris Bueller” recently, saying, “It’s not really fun to watch yourself.” While she doesn’t frequently enough see co-stars Jennifer Gray, Alan Ruck, and Charlie Sheen, the cast reunited via Zoom in 2020.She ensured her children have seen the film.
“My kids have absolutely seen it,” Sara said. “When they were younger, it was embarrassing.Growing up in Los Angeles,they had friends whose parents were working actors,and they were bummed that I stopped working.”
