Mia Sara Reflects on Iconic ‘Ferris Bueller’ Role, New Film

Nearly 40 ‌years ⁢after making her mark in ‌”ferris Bueller’s ⁣Day Off,” Mia Sara‌ fondly remembers filming the movie’s parade sequence. ‍The scene featured⁤ Matthew Broderick leading an elaborate dance through Chicago streets to The ⁤Beatles’ “Twist and⁤ Shout.”

“We would do the dance,then get ⁤in a van and drive blocks away,” Sara told People. “The camera would roll, and we’d repeat⁢ the dance, waiting for matthew to pass. It‌ was a crazy ‘let’s catch it as many times as we can’ situation. That was a great moment.”

Sara admitted she hasn’t rewatched “Ferris Bueller” recently, saying, “It’s not really fun to watch yourself.” While ⁣she doesn’t frequently enough see⁢ co-stars ⁣Jennifer Gray, Alan Ruck, ⁢and Charlie Sheen, the cast reunited via Zoom in 2020.She ensured​ her children have seen the film.

“My ⁢kids have absolutely​ seen it,” Sara said. “When they⁣ were​ younger, it was embarrassing.Growing up in Los Angeles,they had friends whose parents were working actors,and they were bummed that I stopped​ working.”
