Bonnie ⁣Bartlett, reflecting on her career, ⁣recently recounted how a brief⁤ meeting ⁣wiht Michael landon led to her role in “Little ⁣House on ​the Prairie.”

Bartlett, now 95, said that in 1974, after ​taking⁣ time off to raise her children, she was given the possibility to join the cast of the series​ starring Landon.

“His agent sent me to see Michael [Landon], and they told me it was a general appointment.But, he hired me that day,” she said on the podcast Pod Meets World, hosted by Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel, and Rider Strong.

Landon, who played Charles “Pa” Ingalls, also‍ served as executive producer and director of the⁣ series, which was based on the books by Laura ⁣Ingalls Wilder.

Bartlett Praises LandonS Talent, Addresses On-Set Atmosphere

Bartlett expressed admiration for Landon’s ⁢multifaceted talent. “He⁢ was talented, very⁤ talented. He was a ​writer, director and star,” she stated.

Despite the show’s wholesome image, Bartlett acknowledged that the atmosphere‍ on set was not always idyllic. She noted that Landon faced personal challenges, including a⁢ tough divorce,‍ which ⁢sometiems ⁢affected his demeanor.

“He was going ​through a terrible divorce. ‍He was angry,so he was tough on people sometimes. But he was always fair with me,” Bartlett said.
