PARIS (AP) — Émilie Dequenne, the​ Belgian actress‍ who gained international recognition ​for ​her ⁢role in‍ “Rosetta,” has ⁤died at ⁢the age of 43 after battling a rare form ⁢of cancer.

Michel​ Ferracci, Dequenne’s husband, ⁤shared a tribute on ​social media following ​her death on March 16.⁢ The actress had‌ been diagnosed with‌ a rare cancer ⁤more than‍ a year ago.

Ferracci added, We led this battle together, tirelessly, for more than a year and a half. He referenced Dequenne’s public struggle with the disease.

Regrettably, we have not ‌won it, but ​I know that‌ the warrior that you are​ continuing to watch‍ over⁣ us, from where you are. I miss you terribly …⁤ But for you, I’m going​ to hold on. I will‍ live‌ for⁤ us, for our family, for our ⁤friends.Because, as you always said: I like life! So, I’m going to love it for both⁤ of ⁣us.

Dequenne announced in October 2023 that ⁤she had been diagnosed ⁣with cancer of the endocrine system. The diagnosis, received⁢ two months prior, kept her away from film sets.
