Michelin Guide Shanghai 2025: Discover 10 New Star Restaurants and Culinary Excellence

The Michelin Guide Shanghai released its 9th edition on Tuesday, featuring 145 endorsed restaurants. Among these, 10 are new to the guide. Notably, Wu You Xian became the first dim sum restaurant in Shanghai to earn a Michelin star for its specialty, xiaolongbao.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide, highlighted Shanghai’s dining scene for its cultural richness and innovation. He noted that local restaurants are enhancing their skills and creating unique dining experiences for both local and international guests.

This year’s guide includes over 50 Star-rated restaurants, showcasing a wide range of culinary styles that blend local and international influences. Michelin plans to engage more with industry players to enhance food and leisure experiences through new products and collaborations.

Younger chefs are invigorating Shanghai’s culinary landscape with fresh ideas, leading to more diverse dining options. Two restaurants, Narisawa and Zhou She (Minhang), have achieved One Michelin Star this year, joining three new entrants: Gastro Esthetics at DaDong, Sole, and Wu You Xian.

Taian Table and Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet maintained their Three Michelin Star status, demonstrating consistent excellence. Taian Table also received a Michelin Green Star for its commitment to sustainability.

Shanghai boasts nine Two Michelin Star restaurants, with Fu He Hui being the first to receive this honor. The Bib Gourmand section added four new eateries, bringing the total number recognized for excellent food at good value to 30. These new additions include Cong’s Kitchen, Lao Di Fang Mian Guan, The Commune Social, and Wang Lu.

The 63 Michelin-Selected restaurants feature five newcomers, representing 30 different cuisines. These include Bai Rong (Shandong cuisine), La Scene Ronde (innovative cuisine), Scilla (Mediterranean), Yong Jiang Zhen (Jiangzhe cuisine), and Numata Sou (tempura).
