Multiple people were shot at The⁤ Church of Jesus Christ of⁢ Latter-day⁢ Saints in Grand Blanc, michigan, on Sunday, ⁢September⁣ 28, 2025. Local police confirmed the‍ shooter is deceased and ⁤that ther is no longer a threat to ⁤public safety.

The shooting occurred at the church located approximately 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Detroit, in⁤ a residential area near a jehovah’s Witness church. Grand Blanc is a community of ‍roughly 8,000 residents situated ⁤just outside of Flint.

Authorities reported that ⁤the church building itself caught ‍fire following the shooting, though the cause ⁢of the fire remains under inquiry as of this writing.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued a statement expressing her sorrow for the Grand Blanc community.⁤ She⁣ emphasized that ‍violence, notably within a place ⁢of worship, is unacceptable.⁤
