Experienced Nursing Leader
Dr. Long brings over 25 years of nursing experience to the role,with more than half of her career dedicated to leadership positions. Most recently, she served as both Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating officer at Mercy Health West, a 350-bed hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her responsibilities will encompass overseeing all nursing operations within the McLaren system and spearheading initiatives designed to elevate patient care.
Familiarity with McLaren
This isn’t Dr. Long’s first engagement with McLaren Health Care.she previously held the position of Chief Nursing Officer at McLaren St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. Though, that facility closed in 2023 due to significant financial and operational challenges, a factor that provides valuable insight for her current role.
Succession of leadership
Dr. long succeeds Jennifer Montgomery, BSN, RN, who served as mclaren’s inaugural chief Nurse. Montgomery transitioned earlier in 2024 to become the Chief Executive Officer of Prisma Health’s Midlands hospitals in Greenville, South Carolina.
