Mid-Autumn Magic: HCMC Market Management Unwraps the Mooncake Sensation Sweeping the City
Mid-Autumn Festival Food Safety: Market Management Agency Cracks Down on Violations
As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the market management agency has been actively inspecting and handling food product violations. Since the beginning of August, a total of 24 violations have been addressed, with 15,749 moon cakes worth over 150 million VND temporarily seized.
The Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department has been paying close attention to the popular mochi mooncake with salted egg floss, which has been trending on social networks and e-commerce platforms. While there is currently no evidence to suggest that these cakes are smuggled goods, the Department will continue to monitor their sale and distribution.
A recent survey revealed that the salted egg floss mochi mooncake typically weighs 500g and features packaging with only foreign language labels, with no Vietnamese translation. The price range for these cakes is between 55,000 to over 100,000 VND per piece, significantly cheaper than traditional mooncakes, which weigh between 150-250g.
To ensure food safety and hygiene during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the market management force is working closely with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to inspect cake production facilities. The focus of these inspections will be on the origin of raw materials and food additives.
The Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department advises consumers to prioritize purchasing moon cakes from reputable stores and brands that are registered with the authorities and have clear origins. When shopping online or on e-commerce platforms, consumers should exercise caution and request information about the origin and place of production from the seller. It is also essential to avoid using moon cakes without labels or clear origins.
By taking these precautions, consumers can help ensure a safe and enjoyable Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.
