Middle East Tensions Escalate: Jordan and Saudi Arabia Deny Involvement in Iran Airstrike
Saudi Arabia and Jordan clarified on Saturday that their airspace was not used in Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military installations.
The Jordanian military said no military aircraft were allowed to cross Jordanian airspace by warring parties in the region.
A Jordanian military official added that the armed forces were closely following the military escalation that occurred in the past few hours.
He stressed that the Royal Air Force is monitoring the situation with great interest and is ready to defend the motherland.
Similarly, a Saudi official told Reuters on Saturday that his country’s airspace was not used during Israeli airstrikes on Iran.
Israel announced early Saturday morning that it had carried out airstrikes against military targets in Iran.
The strikes came in response to a major Iranian missile attack on Israel on October 1 in response to the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in late July.
The Iranian army revealed that two soldiers were killed in an Israeli operation last night.
Iran’s air defenses announced that they had “repelled attempts by Zionist entities to attack some points in Iran.”
Condemnation of Arabs
Several Arab countries condemned the Israeli attack on Iran and considered it a violation of international norms and laws.
Qatar strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Iran and said it was a “clear violation of its sovereignty and a clear violation of the principles of international law.”
“The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns and condemns the military targeting of Saudi Arabia, which is a violation of its sovereignty and a violation of international law and norms,” the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on X Platform. “
Instead, the UAE Foreign Ministry condemned Iran’s “strongly military targeting” in a statement, expressing “deep concern about the continuing tensions and its impact on security and stability in the region”.
Similarly, the Sultanate of Oman, which maintains close ties with Iran, condemned “the aerial bombardment launched by Israel” as “an escalation that fuels a cycle of violence and undermines efforts aimed at pacification.”
It called on the international community to “stop this flagrant violation on the territory of regional neighboring countries”.
