Middlesex ⁤Cricket Club⁤ has announced the departure of​ Richard Johnson, the first-team coach, effective‍ immediately. The decision comes as the club cites that on-field performance and ​overall results have not met the standards expected.

Johnson, 50, had been in charge since the 2022 season. ‍He previously served as an assistant ‌coach under Richard ⁢Scott ⁢and ​also held the lead role on ‍an interim‍ basis in 2018. His​ tenure saw mixed results, including promotion ‍from Division ⁤Two of the County ⁢Championship in his first year. However, the team was‍ relegated the following season. Last season, thay finished third in ‌the second‌ tier. Currently, they sit sixth, five points above last ⁢place, with three losses in seven matches.

In T20 blast,Middlesex has lost three of six matches this season,placing them seventh in the South Group. ​The ⁣team has not reached the knockout stage of any white-ball competition since Johnson​ took over.
