Chinese Woman Robbed of Nearly 10,000 Yuan in Flushing, New York

A recent incident in Flushing, New York, has left a 63-year-old Chinese woman shaken after she was robbed of her cell phone ⁢and cash while walking at night. The ​victim lost nearly 10,000 ⁤yuan in the incident.

The incident occurred on August 29 ‍at ⁢11:50 p.m. in a residential area near the⁢ intersection ‍of Maple Ave. and Frame Place in Queensboro Hill.⁢ According to the police report, the male suspect approached the victim, grabbed ⁤her neck, ⁤and robbed her handbag, which contained 6,000 yuan in cash, a wallet, and an iPhone. The suspect​ then fled the ⁣scene‌ in an unknown direction.

The victim​ was taken to New York‍ Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she is​ in ⁢stable condition.‍ The police department has released surveillance footage of ⁢the suspect, describing him ⁣as having a medium complexion, a black beard and mustache, and eucalyptus ​hair. He was wearing ‌a black Nike‍ T-shirt, ⁤gray sweatpants, dark sneakers, and ‍a black baseball⁣ cap.

The suspect is still at large, and the police are calling on anyone with information to come​ forward​ with clues. According⁤ to the latest CompStat report,‌ the 109th ⁣Precinct has reported a total of 225 robberies ​in 2024, a⁢ 5.6%⁣ increase from 213 in the ​same period ‍last year. The precinct has also seen⁣ an increase⁢ in​ assaults, ⁤with 348 reported, a 14.1% increase from 305 in the same‍ period in 2023.

The police‌ are urging anyone with⁤ information about the ⁤incident to ⁤come forward and help bring the ⁢suspect to justice. The community is also advised to remain⁢ vigilant and take necessary precautions ‍to ensure their safety.
