Chinese Woman Robbed of Nearly 10,000 Yuan in Flushing, New York
A recent incident in Flushing, New York, has left a 63-year-old Chinese woman shaken after she was robbed of her cell phone and cash while walking at night. The victim lost nearly 10,000 yuan in the incident.
The incident occurred on August 29 at 11:50 p.m. in a residential area near the intersection of Maple Ave. and Frame Place in Queensboro Hill. According to the police report, the male suspect approached the victim, grabbed her neck, and robbed her handbag, which contained 6,000 yuan in cash, a wallet, and an iPhone. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The victim was taken to New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she is in stable condition. The police department has released surveillance footage of the suspect, describing him as having a medium complexion, a black beard and mustache, and eucalyptus hair. He was wearing a black Nike T-shirt, gray sweatpants, dark sneakers, and a black baseball cap.
The suspect is still at large, and the police are calling on anyone with information to come forward with clues. According to the latest CompStat report, the 109th Precinct has reported a total of 225 robberies in 2024, a 5.6% increase from 213 in the same period last year. The precinct has also seen an increase in assaults, with 348 reported, a 14.1% increase from 305 in the same period in 2023.
