Colombia’s Director of Migration Resigns Amid Ongoing Crisis
Carlos Fernando García Manosalva, the Director of Migration Colombia, has tendered his resignation citing personal reasons, as stated in a letter submitted to the Casa de Nariño, the headquarters of the Executive Committee.
García, who assumed office in September 2022, has been at the forefront of addressing sensitive issues such as the Venezuelan migration crisis and the transportation of thousands of people through the Darién region.
A source close to the matter confirmed that García’s resignation letter has been received, although the exact date of his departure from office remains uncertain.
As the Director of Migration Colombia, García was responsible for overseeing the country’s response to the migration crisis on the border with Venezuela and implementing new management policies at airports and ports nationwide.
