The recently opened Fenix Museum in Rotterdam is dedicated to exploring migration through art. Rather then focusing on political aspects, the museum emphasizes personal stories and shared human experiences. Rotterdam, a city with 170 nationalities, provides a fitting backdrop for this institution.
Anne Kremers, director of Fenix, said the museum focuses on individual narratives rather than statistics. The museum is located in Katendrecht, a port district that once served as a hub for steamshipping between the Netherlands and the Americas.
