Ahead of the Jornada 11 encounter on Saturday, October 10, at 21:10 hours, Almeyda publicly stated that he does not view the fixture against the azulcremas as a true measuring stick for his squad. Almeyda emphasized that no single result defines the remainder of their campaign. Borja welcomed the assessment from the opposition bench.

Club América celebrates 110th anniversary and roster preparations

The fixture coincides with the 110th anniversary of the founding of Club América. During a press conference at Coapa, Miguel Borja participated in cutting a commemorative cake and congratulated the club’s supporters.

Miguel Borja

Discussing the opposition squad, Borja acknowledged that Monterrey presents a formidable challenge despite significant roster changes. Although Sergio Ramos, Germán Berterame, and Sergio Canales are no longer with Rayados, the Colombian forward emphasized that incoming players maintain high sporting quality.

Mutual praise shared with captain Henry Martín

The buildup to the match also highlighted internal squad harmony within Club América. Following positive remarks from team captain Henry Martín regarding Borja, the Colombian forward returned the compliment and highlighted their productive partnership on the pitch.
