Mike Brown Emerges as Strong Candidate for Knicks Coaching Role

Mike brown, fresh off a Coach of the Year award, is a leading contender for the New York knicks head coaching job. He is scheduled for a second interview, according to sources.
Brown, 55, earned unanimous NBA Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Sacramento kings to the playoffs in 2022-23, ending their 16-year drought. His tenure in Sacramento included a 107-88 record before his dismissal in december.The Knicks are looking for the right person to fill the coaching role.
The veteran coach previously held head coaching positions with the Cleveland Cavaliers (twice) and the Los Angeles Lakers. His career record stands at 455-304, with seven playoff appearances in nine full seasons. He also won Coach of the Year in cleveland in 2008-09.
Brown interviewed for the Knicks job in 2020 before the team hired Tom Thibodeau. Now, he’s in the running to replace Thibodeau, who was fired after leading New York to its first eastern Conference finals appearance in a quarter-century.
other candidates for the knicks’ head coaching job include former Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins and Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori. The Knicks also reportedly have interest in New Orleans Pelicans assistant and former Charlotte Hornets coach James Borrego.
Before initiating formal interviews,the Knicks were denied permission to speak with several teams’ head coaches,including Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks,Ime Udoka of the Houston Rockets,and Chris Finch of the Timberwolves.
