Mingus Reedus, Son of Celebrities Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen, Arrested in NYC for Alleged Assault
New York, NY - Mingus Reedus, teh 25-year-old son of actors Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead”) and Helena Christensen, was arrested in New York City on Saturday, August 23rd, following an alleged assault. the New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed the arrest, stating that Reedus was taken into custody near 16th Street and 8th Avenue around 8:40 AM local time. He faces charges of criminal obstruction of breathing and assault.
According to authorities, police responded to a call and found a 33-year-old woman at the scene with minor injuries to her neck and leg. She was transported by Emergency Medical Services to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue and is currently listed in stable condition.
“Mingus was taken into custody, and the investigation remains ongoing,” the NYPD said in a statement. Representatives for Mingus Reedus have yet to respond to requests for comment.
This is not the first time Mingus Reedus has faced legal scrutiny. In September 2021, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 24-year-old woman during New York City’s San Gennaro festival. At the time, police reported that the woman had been punched in the face following a verbal altercation. Reedus told The New York Daily News that the woman and her friends had initiated the confrontation. In March 2022, he accepted a plea deal for the lesser charge of disorderly conduct. His attorney,Isabelle Kirshner,previously described the 2021 charges as “baseless,” maintaining that Mingus “was the victim in this incident.”
Mingus Reedus was born in 1999 to Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen, who met in 1998 and dated for five years before separating in 2003. He has occasionally appeared alongside his father, including at Norman Reedus’ Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2022.
