BOGOTÁ, Colombia (AP) — The Ministry‍ of Education and the Country Strategy⁤ Foundation have launched the Maker Impact project, an initiative designed to bolster 21st-century skills through artificial⁣ intelligence and hands-on learning.

The⁣ project, supported by a $750,000 grant from Google.org ⁣and spearheaded by Atlantic⁣ Edtech, seeks to integrate generative ⁣artificial intelligence (AI) and “Maker culture” into education nationwide. The goal is to empower students and‍ teachers to develop innovative solutions ⁢to local challenges.

The initiative aims to⁢ create a nationwide educational community that uses generative AI,the Maker ‍culture,and creative methodologies to enhance the abilities of students and teachers to devise⁢ innovative solutions to real-world ⁤problems.

Maker Impact⁣ is geared toward students in 10th, 11th, and post-secondary grades, as well as educators across‍ all ⁣levels. Participants will engage in a structured learning path, developing “Maker” projects using the “genia” methodology. Colombian Minister of Education Daniel Rojas Medellín emphasized the need ‍for ‍educational‍ evolution. “The world has changed, and pedagogy must also do⁤ so,” Rojas Medellín said. “Education needs to open the⁢ windows⁣ to artificial intelligence and new knowledge.
