Ministry of Agriculture hosts World Rabies Day 2026 to drive zero rabies by 2030

The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture hosted the peak commemoration of World Rabies Day 2026 on Sept. 27, 2026, at the IPB Baranangsiang campus grounds in Bogor, driving cross-sector collaboration toward the national goal of Indonesia Zero Rabies by 2030.
Organized by the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services, the hybrid event ran from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time under the theme “Satu Aksi untuk Rabies, Stronger Together.” Official invitation documents signed by Director of Animal Health Drh. Hendra Wibawa, M.Si, Ph.D., drew central and regional government officials, academics, professional organizations, and international partners to apply a One Health approach against the disease.
Simultaneous National Rabies Vaccination
A central feature of the program was the National Greeting for Simultaneous Rabies Vaccination. Using a live connection, event organizers monitored mass vaccination efforts deployed concurrently across animal hospitals, veterinary clinics, veterinary disease investigation centers, quarantine stations, animal health centers, and veterinary university campuses across the country.
The gathering also marked the formal reading of the Java Free Rabies 2029 and Indonesia Zero Rabies 2030 Declaration. The commitment was led by the Director General of Livestock and Animal Health Services alongside representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, local governments, the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association, academics, and animal welfare communities.
Interactive Public Health Zones in Bogor
To deliver direct public education and services for pets, the organizing committee established eight interactive activity zones at the Bogor venue. Zone 1 functioned as the Rabies Vaccination and Registration Center action area, providing free mass rabies vaccinations.
Zone 2 operated as the Free Veterinary Check-up action area, offering complimentary general health examinations, skin and dental checks, and nutritional consultations with veterinarians through an ask-the-veterinarian service.
