A horrific act of violence unfolded on Wednesday in Minneapolis as a 23-year-old shooter opened fire inside a church connected to a school, leaving two children dead and 14 others, mostly students, injured.the mass shooting occurred during a school mass, just days after the resumption of classes, sending shockwaves through the community and reigniting the debate over gun control in America.
According to minneapolis Police Chief brian O’Hara, the shooter, identified as Robin Westman, a transgender former student of the school, acted alone and was armed with three firearms – two rifles and a pistol, all reportedly obtained legally. Westman gained entry by firing through the stained-glass windows, targeting the schoolchildren gathered inside. After the attack, the shooter committed suicide at the scene.
