Authorities say a suspect is in custody after a shooting in the Minneapolis suburbs targeted the homes of two Democratic lawmakers.The incident occurred amid demonstrations against former President Donald trump in Los Angeles and other cities.
Vance Luther boelter, the suspect, fled on foot after exchanging gunfire with police. Inside his vehicle,authorities discovered flyers referencing the demonstrations and a manifesto listing several elected officials,including Minnesota state representatives Melissa Hortman and John hoffman,police said.
Both Hortman and Hoffman were targeted at their homes in the northern Minneapolis suburbs during the night from Friday to Saturday,according to police reports.
sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were shot at their home in Champlin around 2 a.m. Saturday. gov. Tim Walz said both were seriously wounded and underwent surgery. “We are reasonably optimistic that they will survive this assassination attempt,” Walz told reporters Saturday morning.
Around 3:30 a.m., while checking on Melissa HortmanS residence in Brooklyn Park, law enforcement encountered a man in a police uniform leaving the house near what appeared to be a police vehicle. According to Drew Evans, the individual “promptly fired” upon the officers before escaping on foot, leaving the car behind.
The Capitol Police in Washington have increased security for officials named on the suspect’s list. Drew Evans stated that the motive remains unclear.

Gov.
