Authorities are investigating targeted shootings of Minnesota state lawmakers that occurred overnight. The incidents took place amid planned “No Kings” protests, raising concerns about security and public safety.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi stated she is closely monitoring the situation in Minnesota. The FBI is on the ground assisting state and local law enforcement in the investigation. Bondi described the shootings as “a targeted attack against state lawmakers.”
“This horrific violence will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Bondi said on X.
Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino said in a statement on X that the FBI is fully engaged in Minnesota,collaborating with local and state partners.
The “No Kings” protests were scheduled nationwide in response to the Trump governance’s plans for a large-scale military parade. However,Minnesota officials urged the public to avoid the demonstrations. The Minnesota State Patrol stated on X, “Given the targeted shootings of state lawmakers overnight, we are asking the public to not attend today’s planned demonstrations across Minnesota out of an abundance of caution.”
