The University of Minnesota women’s gymnastics team finished fourth in its first-ever NCAA gymnastics championship appearance, marking the program’s best finish in history.
The Gophers posted a total score of 197.6875 at the NCAA Gymnastics Championships held in Fort Worth, Texas, placing behind Oklahoma (198.1625), Florida (198.0750), and LSU (197.3750). This result came after Minnesota became the No. 13 seed to reach the national finals for the first time, having advanced through the semifinals by defeating higher-ranked opponents including Alabama and Utah at regionals.
Head coach Jenny Hansen praised the team’s resilience throughout the competition. “We had another steady day in front of us,” Hansen said. “The team didn’t give it if something didn’t go perfectly. They never gave up. I’m so proud of this team and everything they accomplished this season.”
