Morelos State launches Free Vaccination Campaign Against Measles, Rubella, and Mumps
Published August 30, 2025, by the Directorate General of Communication Social (DGCS) of the Government of the State of Morelos.
Protecting the Community Through Vaccination
The Ministry of Health of Morelos is actively encouraging parents and guardians to verify the vaccination status of their children and seek completion of necessary vaccination schedules. This initiative aims to prevent the spread of measles, a highly contagious viral disease that can lead to serious complications.
Measles symptoms include fever, skin rash, cough, and eye redness. Vaccination remains the most effective method of protection against this potentially severe illness.
Free and Accessible Vaccines
The triple viral vaccine (SRP), protecting against measles, rubella, and mumps, is available free of charge at all health units throughout Morelos state. María Elena Alcocer Silva, State Manager of the SSM Global Vaccination Program, emphasized the accessibility of this vital preventative measure.
Alcocer Silva stated that complete SRP vaccination is crucial for children, while adolescents and adults should receive at least one dose of the SR vaccine (measles and rubella). Maintaining up-to-date vaccinations is essential to safeguard the population and prevent the reintroduction of these diseases within the state.
