A skyscraper in Tsz Lok Estate was engulfed in flames and the fire was quite intense.
The Observatory issued yellow and red rain warning signals this morning. A fire broke out in a unit in Tsz Lok village, Tsz Wan Shan during heavy rain, and explosions were heard at the site. The fire was extinguished at around 12:43 and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Police say a woman is a suspect.
Fire in Tsz Lok Estate: Woman Arrested for Negligence
Online clips show a fire in a skyscraper still raging despite heavy rain, with flames billowing and black smoke pouring out. At around 11am, police received a report that there had been a fire in the bedroom of a high-rise building in Lok Man House, Tsz Lok Estate, involving a 7-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl.
Trapped in the house, at one point an explosion was heard. After the firefighters arrived on the scene, the two children had fled to a safe place. During the time a hose and a team of smoke teams were sent to put out the fire and they extinguished more than 20 evacuated residents on their own.
After investigation, the police believe that the fire was caused by a lamp that was on in a room at the above address. It is suspected that the fire was caused by a short circuit. At this time, there is no evidence that this is a criminal case.
