Taiwanese Man Guo Yuxuan Under Investigation in Mainland China
Guo Yuxuan, a 22-year-old Taiwanese man, traveled to Shanghai on August 27 and has since lost contact with his relatives and friends.
The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of Mainland China issued a press release stating that Guo Yuxuan has been investigated in accordance with the law on suspicion of fraud, and relevant mainland parties will protect his legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the law.
Guo Yuxuan’s relatives and friends published a missing person’s notice online after losing contact with him. According to public information, Guo Yuxuan planned to move to Hefei, Anhui province after arriving in Shanghai.
The Mainland Affairs Council expressed dissatisfaction that the relevant unit had not yet notified Taiwan of restrictions on personal freedoms. They hope that the relevant departments of the Chinese Communist Party will explain the case in detail as soon as possible and ensure that Guo Yuxuan enjoys legal rights and protection.
Liang Wenji, deputy chairman of the Mainland Affairs Council, said that Guo Yuxuan went to the mainland with friends of the Association, but there is no further news.
