Sheffield’s Leadmill Announces Final Event Date Before eviction

Sheffield’s iconic Leadmill music venue will hold its last event on June 28, ahead of eviction by new property owners, Electric Group. The Leadmill, a cornerstone of Sheffield’s music scene, has been operating at its Leadmill Street location since 1980.
The venue’s management announced the date, stating, “After four decades of unforgettable nights, historic gigs, adn a community that has stuck with us through it all, Saturday 28th June 2025 will be the final event held at The Leadmill.”
The Leadmill has hosted a wide array of prominent artists, including local bands like Pulp, Arctic Monkeys, Self Esteem, and Bring Me The Horizon, as well as national and international acts such as Muse, Coldplay, The Strokes, and oasis.
venue representatives assured ticket holders that they are working to reschedule events at other Sheffield venues. They emphasized their commitment to continuing live music, comedy, club nights, and culture in the city. “Our mission hasn’t changed even if our address will,” they stated.
The Leadmill acknowledged the contributions of its staff, including engineers, bar staff, security, and promoters. They also thanked the artists, collaborators, and local businesses that have been part of the Leadmill story.

The venue encouraged supporters to share their favorite leadmill memories online, which will be compiled into a future project. The Leadmill was served an eviction notice in 2022 after Electric Group purchased the freehold in 2017. electric Group, which operates venues like Brixton Electric, has pledged to maintain the building as a music venue.
richard Hawley, a Sheffield native, expressed sadness over the Leadmill’s closure and called for legislative changes to protect music venues. He said there “desperately needs to be a change in legislation.”

The Leadmill is urging fans to attend the final event and share their memories as it prepares to transition to a new location. The venue aims to continue supporting Sheffield’s music scene despite the change in venue.
