Transition Follows Key⁤ Achievement for Hospital

Gary Marchand will⁣ conclude his role as interim CEO of Greenwood (Mississippi) Leflore Hospital⁣ on January 1, according to‍ a September ⁣5 statement shared with Becker’s Hospital Review. Mr. Marchand initially took on⁤ the interim position in 2022.

During his tenure, the hospital attained Rural Community Hospital Presentation (RCHD) status, as announced by the board of commissioners on September 4.

RCHD Status adn financial Stability

Mr. Marchand stated that⁢ he returned to the hospital on an interim basis to navigate challenges following the COVID-19 pandemic.⁤ He believes the hospital’s recent achievements, including RCHD status and improved financial stability, create an opportune moment to recruit a permanent CEO to lead the organization long-term.

The RCHD designation will ⁢result in increased Medicare inpatient revenue and‍ enable the launch of a swing bed service line, potentially generating new revenue streams,⁤ as detailed in a September 3 memo to staff.

previous Interim Role

This ‍is not Mr. Marchand’s first time leading Greenwood Leflore⁤ Hospital in an interim capacity; he previously served as interim CEO from October 2019 to mid-October 2020, a hospital spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s.
