Hungary

In Hungary, an outbreak of Mond-and-Klauwzeer (MKZ), also known as foot-and-mouth disease, has been reported at the Nyugati Kapu dairy farm in the municipality of Levél, near Mosonmagyaróvár. This location is approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) northwest of Kisbajcs, where the disease was initially detected on March 7. The affected area is near the Austrian border.

The proximity of the new infection in Hungary ⁢to the Austrian border has resulted in the inclusion⁢ of areas within ‌Austria in the restriction zone. According to local ⁤reports, the affected farm is owned by‍ an Austrian citizen who has held Hungarian nationality for 10 years. Animals began displaying symptoms consistent with MKZ on Tuesday. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of the disease after blood samples were taken. Authorities are culling 3,000 cattle.

Second Location in hungary

The company also possesses a nearby farm in Máriget, ‌housing 300 animals.‌ A large pig farm⁣ is also located in the immediate ⁢vicinity. Preventative culling of these animals is ‌likely.

Slovakia

On Tuesday, MKZ was detected at a fourth ⁤location in Slovakia,⁢ a farm in Malý Lúc, in the ⁤Dunajská Streda district. This company, which houses 279 animals,is located just northwest of the three previously infected companies in Slovakia.
