Strategic Addition to Address Defensive Needs
CF montréal has acquired American defender Bode Hidalgo from Real Salt Lake, addressing a critical need in their backline. The move, reported by The Press, comes at a crucial time for the club, following the departure of Joel Waterman to chicago and a recent injury to defender Jalen Neal.
Hidalgo’s Background and Playing Style
Hidalgo, a product of the Real Salt Lake Academy and a native of Sandy, Utah, signed a contract extension with Real Salt Lake last summer, demonstrating their confidence in his potential. He’s a versatile player, capable of featuring at right back – his primary position – but also offering options on the left or even in central defense. This adaptability will be a valuable asset for CF Montréal.
Addressing Urgent Defensive Gaps
The acquisition of Hidalgo is largely driven by recent developments within the CF Montréal squad. The transfer of Joel Waterman to the Chicago Fire created an immediate void in the defense. Further compounding the issue,Jalen Neal underwent a prosperous appendectomy on Thursday and is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, forcing the club to act swiftly to reinforce their defensive options.
