MNS Vandalizes Panvel Dance Bar, Citing Obscenity Concerns

Panvel, Maharashtra - In a late-night incident that has sparked an inquiry, members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) allegedly stormed into the Night Riders Bar on the outskirts of Panvel on Saturday night, vandalizing the premises and causing important damage. The party cited concerns over alleged obscenity at the establishment.
MNS Workers Storm Dance Bar, Cause Damage
According to police reports, a group of MNS workers descended upon the Night Riders Bar, leading to the destruction of furniture, the smashing of liquor bottles, and extensive damage to the property. A video circulating on social media captured the aftermath,showing overturned tables,shattered glass,and a generally ransacked interior.
An MNS functionary, speaking anonymously to PTI, stated, “Dance bars have no place in the sacred land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. We will not allow such obscenity to thrive in Panvel or anywhere else in the state.”
Police Launch Investigation, No Arrests Yet
The Panvel police have taken cognizance of the incident and have initiated a probe. A police official confirmed that they are actively collecting CCTV footage and recording statements from witnesses. “No one is above the law,” the official emphasized, adding that no arrests have been made as of yet.
While the owners of the Night Riders Bar have not yet issued a formal statement, reports indicate that the establishment suffered considerable financial losses due to the vandalism.
Recent MNS Actions Draw Scrutiny
This incident follows another recent event that drew criticism. A few days prior, a video surfaced online showing an MNS functionary slapping an employee of a gaming center in Thane district. This action was reportedly taken after complaints that children were frequenting the gaming zone during school hours and allegedly stealing money. The MNS Kalyan president, Ulhas Bhoir, was seen confronting the gaming zone staff in the footage regarding the presence of students in school uniforms.
