Mob Justice in Kushtia: Jubo League Leader Handed Over to Police Amid Public Outrage
Arrest of Jubo League Activist Shahinur Rahman Dhani in Kushtia
In Kushtia Sadar Upazila, local people handed over a Jubo League leader named Shahinur Rahman Dhani to the police. He was arrested from the Union Parishad building on Monday morning and later handed over to the police.
Kushtia Model Police Station Inspector (Operation) Abdul Alim confirmed the arrest.
Shahinur Rahman is the President of Ailchara Union Jubo League and the son of late Badsha Mandal of Khajanagar Gwalgram district.
According to local sources, local people arrested Shahinur of Ailchara Union Parishad of Sadar Upazila around 10 am. He was later kept in an office in Khajanagar Shantir Mor area before being handed over to the police in the afternoon.
SI Alim in charge of Jagti Police Camp told Ajker Patrika that the local mob arrested the Jubo League leader in the afternoon and handed him over to Jagti Camp Police. He was later sent to Kushtia Model Police Station.
Some workers of the local youth party alleged that the Awami League government has committed many wrongdoings by destroying the posts of Jubo Shahinur League while in power. He has been accused of torturing and beating the leaders of Juba Dal and Chhatra Dal.
Vipul, the cousin of the arrested Jubo League leader, said, ‘Shaheen used to stay at home. When he went to the Union Parishad this morning, Youth Dal and Chhatra Dal workers beat him and locked him in an office in Shanti Mor. Later, he was handed over to the police.’
Kushtia Model Police Station Inspector (Operation) Abdul Alim said the Jubo League leader who was arrested by the local mob has been sent to jail through the court.
