Comic Book Art Comes to Life in Mobile Museum

Agen, France – A unique prospect to explore the world of comic book art is currently parked in Agen. Until January 3rd, a mobile museum, aptly named MuMo, is stationed at le Gravier, offering free entry to an exciting exhibition.

This traveling museum, a collaboration between the Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image d’Angoulême adn the Fonds régional d’art contemporain Poitou-Charentes, aims to bring contemporary art to diverse audiences, from seniors to young students.

Inside the MuMo, visitors are greeted by a captivating display of around forty original comic book panels. The artwork showcases a stunning variety of styles, from figurative to abstract and surrealist, and employs diverse techniques like lithography, ink drawings, and watercolors.

The exhibition features artists from across the globe, offering a truly international outlook on the art form.

“This traveling museum allows children to develop their emotional intelligence, imagination, and ability to express themselves,” saeid Ingrid Brochard, founder of the MuMo.

To enhance the visitor experience, two young mediators are on hand to answer questions and lead workshops on Thursday, January 2nd, and Friday, January 3rd. Local organizations like the Maison Montesquieu community center and the Les Îles after-school program have already signed up for these interactive sessions.

since October 2024, the MuMo has been dedicated to making contemporary art accessible to communities often excluded from such experiences, notably those in rural areas and underprivileged neighborhoods. The Agen stop marks the culmination of this journey, with the hope that visitors have found inspiration and a desire to explore more art in the future.

Anna: It’s all about comic book art, but not just your typical superheroes. Why is it called MuMo?

Anna: It stands for “Musée Mobile,” which basically means “mobile museum” in French.

David: That makes sense! So, where is this parked museum hanging out in Agen?

Anna: It’s at le gravier, and it’s free to visit!
