Mogwai Releases New Single ⁢”God ‌Gets ​You Back” with Music Video

Mogwai ⁤has released their new single “God Gets You Back”​ along⁢ with a music video. The track features lyrics ⁤written by multi-instrumentalist Barry Barnes’ ⁤7-year-old⁣ daughter.

Speaking about the new track, Barry Barnes said,​ “I ⁤felt it⁤ needed ‌some ‍melody or vocals. I couldn’t think of any lyrics so⁢ I asked ​my 7-year-old daughter to write them⁤ for me. She‌ did and I‍ sang it.”

Mogwai has ‌also ‍announced a new ⁣world tour to accompany the release of “God Gets You Back.”⁢ The⁢ tour will include⁢ stops in Japan,‌ marking the band’s first tour in the country in ‌seven years.

Stuart Braithwaite said, “We’re really excited to⁤ be ⁣heading ​out ⁢on our first world tour since the pandemic⁢ began.⁢ We’re going to⁢ some amazing places ​and can’t wait⁤ to ⁤perform the new songs.”

Mogwai’s Documentary⁣ “If the Stars Had a Sound”

Mogwai’s⁣ first documentary,⁣ “Mogwai: If the Stars Had a Sound,” ‌was⁤ released in January and is ⁢directed⁢ by⁢ long-time collaborator Anthony Crook. The documentary⁣ premiered at​ South​ by ⁤Southwest in⁣ Austin, Texas‌ in March 2024.

Stuart Braithwaite‌ said of the documentary, “We’re thrilled​ that everyone can see If the Stars Had ⁣a Sound. It⁢ originally started as a short‍ film⁤ about us leaving Scotland⁤ and recording in upstate New York in early 2020, but then the pandemic hit and everything⁣ changed. The⁢ film ‌has grown into something much ‍bigger as ⁤Anthony ​and we have endured ​the pandemic. ‌Anthony’s film tells the story of our journey⁢ and I think‍ he’s created something really special.”
