Mogwai Releases New Single “God Gets You Back” with Music Video

Mogwai has released their new single “God Gets You Back” along with a music video. The track features lyrics written by multi-instrumentalist Barry Barnes’ 7-year-old daughter.

Speaking about the new track, Barry Barnes said, “I felt it needed some melody or vocals. I couldn’t think of any lyrics so I asked my 7-year-old daughter to write them for me. She did and I sang it.”

Mogwai has also announced a new world tour to accompany the release of “God Gets You Back.” The tour will include stops in Japan, marking the band’s first tour in the country in seven years.

Stuart Braithwaite said, “We’re really excited to be heading out on our first world tour since the pandemic began. We’re going to some amazing places and can’t wait to perform the new songs.”

The Japan tour is scheduled to take place in March 2025. Details of the tour dates are as follows:

Mogwai’s Documentary “If the Stars Had a Sound”

Mogwai’s first documentary, “Mogwai: If the Stars Had a Sound,” was released in January and is directed by long-time collaborator Anthony Crook. The documentary premiered at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas in March 2024.

Stuart Braithwaite said of the documentary, “We’re thrilled that everyone can see If the Stars Had a Sound. It originally started as a short film about us leaving Scotland and recording in upstate New York in early 2020, but then the pandemic hit and everything changed. The film has grown into something much bigger as Anthony and we have endured the pandemic. Anthony’s film tells the story of our journey and I think he’s created something really special.”
