Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr is reportedly planning a historic transfer move to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, with the potential addition of Cristiano Ronaldo creating one of the most high-profile attacking partnerships in world football.

The development, first reported by Egyptian outlet El Watan News and confirmed through multiple regional sports sources, indicates that Al Nassr’s management is actively pursuing Salah as part of a broader strategy to elevate the club’s global standing ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which Saudi Arabia is co-hosting. The club, already home to Ronaldo since his January 2023 move from Manchester United, views the Egyptian international as the ideal complement to its current star-studded lineup.

According to sources close to the negotiations, Al Nassr has prepared a multi-year contract offer worth in excess of €200 million in total value, including performance bonuses and image rights, to lure Salah away from Liverpool, where he has been under contract until 2025. The proposal reflects the club’s ambition to not only compete domestically in the Saudi Pro League but also to challenge for continental honors in the AFC Champions League.

Liverpool has not issued an official response to the reported approach, but internal sources at Anfield suggest the club remains committed to retaining Salah beyond his current deal, particularly given his continued importance to the team’s attacking output. In the 2024–25 season, Salah has scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, maintaining his status as one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers.

The potential reunion of Salah and Ronaldo — who previously played together at Real Madrid from 2014 to 2018 — has sparked significant interest across global football media. While the two never overlapped during their time at the Spanish giants, a move to Al Nassr would mark the first time they would be teammates at the club level, combining two of the most decorated goal-scorers in modern football history.

Ronaldo, now 40, continues to defy age-related expectations, having scored 24 goals in 29 appearances for Al Nassr during the 2024–25 season. His presence has already elevated the club’s profile, contributing to increased commercial partnerships and a surge in international fan engagement. Adding Salah would further amplify Al Nassr’s appeal, particularly in African and Arab markets where the Egyptian forward commands immense popularity.

From a tactical perspective, Al Nassr’s head coach Stefano Pioli has indicated a preference for a flexible front three capable of interchanging positions. Salah’s ability to operate effectively on the right wing, cut inside onto his stronger left foot, or play as a central striker would provide Pioli with valuable tactical options. Ronaldo, despite his advancing years, remains effective in a central striking role or as a second striker, allowing for a dynamic and experienced attacking unit.

The move would also represent a significant statement in the ongoing evolution of the Saudi Pro League, which has attracted numerous high-profile international talents in recent years, including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, and Sadio Mané. A Salah-Ronaldo partnership would elevate the league’s competitive perception and potentially influence future transfer trends involving elite European players considering moves to Asia.

As of now, no formal bid has been submitted by Al Nassr to Liverpool, and the player’s representatives have not commented publicly on the reports. The summer transfer window, which opens in June 2025, is expected to be the earliest point at which such a move could materialize, contingent on both clubs reaching an agreement and Salah expressing a willingness to relocate.

For Liverpool, losing Salah would represent a major blow to their attacking depth and global brand value. The forward has been a cornerstone of Jürgen Klopp’s successor Arne Slot’s plans, and any departure would necessitate a significant reinvestment in the squad. However, should the financial terms offered by Al Nassr meet or exceed Liverpool’s valuation, the club may be compelled to consider the offer seriously, particularly given the player’s age and the potential for a substantial return on investment.

The situation remains fluid, with both clubs likely to engage in behind-the-scenes discussions over the coming weeks. Football fans and analysts worldwide will be watching closely to see whether one of the most talked-about transfer sagas in recent memory culminates in a landmark deal that could reshape the balance of power in global club football.
