Recently, Guangzhou Sports and Culture Museum held the opening ceremony of the second exhibition of the “Beauty in the Dreaming Sports and Art Series Exhibition” “Glory Moments – Chen Chunming Olympic Champion Cartoon Exhibition”, attended by world trampoline champion Cai Qizi, artist representatives and others. This exhibition, which records the demeanor of Chinese athletes in the new era with cartoons, is not only a vivid display of sports culture and the Olympic spirit, but also a tribute to all athletes who have won glory for the country.
The exhibition displays 38 cartoons, including those of Fan Zhendong, who achieved the “Grand Slam” at the Paris Olympics, and Olympic champions such as Quan Hongchan, Xie Siyi, and Chen Meng, who successfully defended their titles.
Chen Chunming donated 5 sets of comic manuscripts of Olympic champions including Gong Lijiao, Li Fabin, Shi Zhiyong, Chen Yufei, Wang Yilu and Huang Dongping to the Guangzhou Sports and Culture Museum. Chen Chunming’s brilliant writing style gave the Olympic champions vivid cartoon images, recorded the highlights of the Olympic athletes’ winning gold and silver medals for the Chinese team, and eulogized the patriotic spirit of struggle. When sharing his creative experience, Chen Chunming said, “From watching the game to winning the gold medal, and then conceiving and writing, each cartoon is carefully conceived and created. I hope to be able to show the spirit of Chinese athletes’ tenacious struggle and self-breakthrough in my brush.”
In order to inspire young people’s enthusiasm to learn the Chinese sports spirit, the “Sports Museum Champion Cartoon Study Activity” was carried out on site. Under the guidance of teacher Chen Chunming, young people felt the charm of the collision between art and sports, used brushes to paint the image of the champion in their hearts, and cheered for the sports champions with cartoon art!
Integrating sports and art to promote common development, the Guangzhou Sports and Culture Museum will take advantage of the 15th National Games to tell the story of Guangzhou sports well, help the development of the Bay Area, actively explore the “sports +” path, improve the quality of exhibitions and education, and contribute the museum’s strength to accelerate the construction of a sports power.
