Monsoon Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected in Southern Thailand
The Songkhla Meteorological Center has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in the southern region of Thailand, affecting 8 provinces.
The Southern Meteorological Center on the east coast has warned of heavy rain, urging people to beware of the risk of flash floods, landslides, and strong winds.
According to the Southern Weather Center, East Coast, announcement number 4 (42/2024), heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the southern region and east coast of Thailand from November 4-6, 2024.
A high-pressure area or moderate to strong cold air mass from China is covering upper Thailand, upper south, and the South China Sea, causing rainfall in many areas of the southern and eastern regions. The monsoon trough is also expected to strengthen in the southern region, leading to heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas.
Provinces affected by heavy to very heavy rainfall include Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat. Other provinces such as Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat are also expected to experience heavy rainfall.
Residents are advised to be alert to dangers caused by heavy or very heavy rain, accumulating rain, and strong gusts of wind, which may result in areas at risk of flash flooding, flash floods, water overflows, and mudslides. Sailors are also warned to exercise caution when sailing, avoiding areas prone to thunderstorms.
