MONSTA X has released its third full-length English-language album, Unfold, marking a significant milestone in the K-pop group’s journey to expand its presence in the U.S. Market. The album, which dropped at midnight on April 3, 2026, explores themes of healing, confronting emotional challenges and personal growth.
Unfold features 10 songs, including the focus track “heal,” described as an emotional anthem that delves into the complexities of love and heartbreak. The album also includes previously released tracks “Growing Pains” and “baby blue,” which were debuted at iHeartRadio’s 2025 Jingle Ball.
A Decade of Stories Unfolded
According to Starship Entertainment, Unfold encapsulates the stories MONSTA X has developed over the past decade. The album’s title reflects the idea of “spreading out what was folded,” honestly portraying experiences ranging from wounds and growing pains to fading love and previously unacknowledged inner voices.
The title song, “heal,” examines the meaning of genuine recovery within a relationship marked by recurring pain. The song builds from a subtle introduction to an emotionally resonant chorus, driven by a heavy and grand sound.
Expanding Global Reach
With Unfold, MONSTA X solidifies its position as a K-pop act that authentically connects with the U.S. Market while maintaining its signature intensity and performance excellence. The group has been strategically working towards this goal, becoming the third K-pop act to reach the Billboard 200 top 10 with their first English album, All About Luv, in 2020.
Their second English album, The Dreaming, released in 2021, peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 chart. The group celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2025 with the concert movie Connect X, a tribute to their journey with their fanbase, known as MONBEBE, and the EP The X.
Album Tracks Explore Emotional Depth
Beyond “heal,” “Growing Pains,” and “baby blue,” Unfold features a diverse range of tracks. “This!” offers a sensuous and exciting vibe, while “Before you Met Me” depicts the challenges of trying to change each other in a relationship. “Glass Half Empty” reflects on sacrifices made for others, comparing them to an “empty glass.”
The album shifts gears with “main attraction,” a Nutrosynth pop track that celebrates regaining confidence. It continues with “enemies with benefits,” which explores the complexities of love and hate, and “on our way,” capturing the excitement of new beginnings. The album concludes with “Sorry to Myself,” a message of self-forgiveness in the wake of a breakup.
MONSTA X is comprised of members Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Jooheon, and I.M. Joohoney, Hyungwon, and Kihyun completed their mandatory South Korean military service in 2025 before returning to the studio to work on Unfold.
