‘Monster Hunter Wilds’ Update Aims to Revive player Interest
Capcom is attempting to address player concerns regarding “Monster Hunter Wilds” with a new free Title Update 2, launching Monday, June 30. The game has faced criticism on Steam due to performance issues and a perceived lack of content, leading to player numbers dropping below those of the older “Monster Hunter World.”
The update introduces two returning monsters: Lagiacrus from “Monster Hunter 3” and Seregios from “Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate,” who was last seen in the “sunbreak” expansion for “Monster Hunter rise.”
The underwater combat segments with Lagiacrus will return as “accents,” according to Capcom. While players cannot freely swing weapons underwater, special actions will be available. Both Lagiacrus and Seregios will have their own armor and weapons.They will appear as 8-star tempered monsters once unlocked.
An arch-tempered version of Uth Duna will also appear as a limited-time event quest for players at HR50 or above, from july 30 to Aug. 20.
The update includes new layered weapons and photo mode functionality, such as brightness settings, filters, and character hiding. Players can also swap handlers, replacing Alma with erik, and select support hunters, including Mina, a Vespae Unit veteran with a sword and shield.
New event quests will allow players to forge special armor.A Mizutsune challenge quest and the arch-tempered Uth Duna quest are also planned. The Flamefete seasonal event, part of the Festival of Accord, will run from July 23 to Aug. 6, offering summer-themed rewards.
From Aug. 27 to Sept. 24, a collaboration with Fender guitars will allow hunters to unlock a Fender gesture, playing classic “Monster Hunter” themes while their palico pal air guitars.
