Cole Caufield: It’s obviously a great honor to be mentioned alongside those guys, but at the end of the day, it’s a team effort. Scoring in the NHL is incredibly challenging, and I’ve been fortunate to find some success early in the season.

CC: Absolutely. Every night, the best players are targeted by opposing teams. It’s crucial to stay focused and to continually improve your game. For me, practice, film study, and getting as much game repetition as possible are key. I always think, if you’re getting chances every game, there’s no panic. But when those chances stop, that’s when you need to adapt.
ND3: Speaking of representing the U.S., how do you feel about the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off?
CC: I’m really excited about it. Competing against Canada, Sweden, and Finland will be a great challenge. I would relish the opportunity to represent Team USA. Making the team is definitely competitive, especially with the Olympics on the horizon.
ND3: The tournament’s first games are at Bell Centre. What does playing there mean to you?
CC: It’s special. Playing in a city that loves hockey and being an American in that environment is something unique. I love the atmosphere at Bell Centre, it’s electric.
ND3: As a player who stands at 5-foot-8, how do you view the challenges of competing in a sport dominated by larger players?
CC: You have to work harder, that’s for sure. Smaller players like me need to outsmart bigger players in different ways. It forces you to be more creative and agile.
ND3: What drives you to keep improving as a player?
CC: I’m never satisfied with my achievements. My focus is always on finding new ways to score and create chances. That’s what makes this league enjoyable for me. There’s always room for growth, and I plan to keep pushing myself.
